Important cautions include avoiding use in patients with severe gastroparesis or other severe gastrointestinal disease, monitoring for diabetic retinopathy complications (particularly in patients with pre-existing retinopathy), and avoiding use during pregnancy with a recommended washout period of at least 2 months before planned conception
The contrasting poorer response in MASLD, where improvement rates were lower and MELD-3 more unfavourable, is also consistent with the literature
